Joseph Marcel Bremault

716aac33864ea851207da72de92f4ef3 lg

Guy Lucien Bremault, died in the early hours on June 26, 2015, at the age of 81, surrounded by his family.

He will be missed by his wife of 21 years, Claire (Giroux) and his children: Catherine (George) Trahan, Joanne (Dan) Friedt, Daniel (Carmen), Robert (Hallie), Donald (Tammy), and Denise–semicolon– five brothers: Gaston, Roger, Aurele, Gerald, and Michel–semicolon– and four sisters: Therese, Aline, Annette, and Lea. Papa will be remembered by his precious grandchildren: Sean (Amy), Ashley, George, Cari (Marc), Alison, Breanne (Chris), Marc, Nicole, Celeste (Bryant), Jenelle, Sage, Tayler and Madison–semicolon– and his five great-grandchildren: James, Beau, Noah, Natalie and SeanCarl–semicolon– as well as numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Guy is predeceased by first wife, Josephine (Matweyw)–semicolon– his parents: Auguste and Louise–semicolon– and two brothers: Gilbert (Jeanette) and Paul (Laurette).

Guy was born on the farm in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba–semicolon– and in 1955 was married in Kenora, Ontario to Josephine Matweyw. They moved to Winnipeg in 1965 with their young family and resided there until 1970 when they packed up the station wagon and headed west to St. Albert, Alberta. Although Guy worked in sales until his retirement, he will be remembered best for his tenor voice singing “Oh Holy Night” in French and English, his artistic carpentry skills and his homemade wine. How he loved to tinker in his garage, a true artist who could design and build almost anything with wood. His creations were so unique that he kept a number and photo system of every item ‘just in case’. He was an avid photographer, fisherman and camper. He loved God’s creation and took pride in a beautiful yard. Guy had a thing with circles. If he could build something that didn’t have square corners, he would. His grandchildren would often benefit from the left over pieces of wood that came out of his garage (which rarely ever had a car parked in it due to his many projects). The circular leftovers always made great wheels for a toy!

He was most known for his steadfast faith, love and wisdom. It was easy to say: “Guy is a great guy!” Although his humour was sometimes hard to follow, it was always with a twinkle in his eye. His love for music and singing (which came from his precious mother) was something he reveled in at church or in his home. He brought solidity to any group. One of his greatest accomplishments was 36 years of volunteer work at the hospital and nursing home.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. Albert Catholic Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, Alberta. A Celebration of Guy’s earthly life will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Albert Catholic Parish.

Memorial Donations may be made in Guy’s name to Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI Lacombe Canada), 175 Main Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 1C3 or Alberta Cancer Foundation Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 9Z9.

I have very fond memories of your Dad/Papa from visits in Thunder Bay and when we went camping in the Rockies and Radium Hot Springs. I felt very fortunate that he was my godfather. His is indeed a full and memorable life to celebrate. My love to you all. Nancy
