Joseph Brezovski of St. Albert, Alberta, beloved husband of Mary Brezovski, passed away at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta on January 9, 2015 at the age of 92 years.
Joseph was born in Paks, Tolna Megye, Hungry on September 18, 1922 and immigrated to Canada in 1928. He married Mary Vancha, in Taber, Alberta, at the Catholic Church in September 1946. They spent a few years in Taber and from Taber, they moved to several small communities in the Peace Country area before making Valleyview, Alberta home for more than 58 years. There they raised their five children: Alex, Leonard, Jim, Robert and Teresa. Along with the large farm he worked, Joe also owned and operated his own company, Joe Brezovski Construction Ltd. His work included the construction of many oilfield well sites and roads in the Northern Alberta area as well as the clearing of thousands of acres of bush land. Joe donated a great deal of his time and equipment to the building of the Kinsmen Park, the old Community Curling Rink and outdoor skating rink, and the old Town Hall in Valleyview. Joe also transported many a hockey player to games in his Station Wagon, one of two in the community at the time. He was truly a Pioneer in the development of the Valleyview area and has left an inspiring Legacy for his family to be proud of. Joseph enjoyed fishing, duck hunting with his loyal dogs, and visiting the local coffee shop to visit with his many friends. For the past 9 years, Joseph and Mary have resided in St. Albert. His greatest joy has been spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren telling his many stories.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Mary–semicolon– children: Leonard (Ann Marie) Brezovski, Robert (Colleen) Brezovski, Teresa (Doug) Buyar and daughter-in-law, Adrienne Brezovski. Joseph also has 9 grandchildren: Michael (Colleen), Jason (Jessica), Ryan (Amber), Lisa (Bill), Jamie (Mike), Jonathon (Tara), Shari (Matt), Kelly, and Tracy. He also has 7 great grandchildren: Kamea, Blake, Brooke, Belle, Maybelle, Taeghen, and Tucker–semicolon– whom will all miss him dearly.
Joseph is also survived by his brother, Frank and two sisters: Betty Pinter and Margaret (Bob) Sparks–semicolon– sister-in-law, Margaret (Bill) Racz–semicolon– as well as many extended family members.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents: Josef and Elizabeth Brezovski–semicolon– sons: Alex and Jim–semicolon– brothers: Tony and John Brezovski–semicolon– and sister, Mary Sorgard.
A graveside service will be held on June 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton, Alberta.
