KEATES, John S.
John Stanislaus Keates of Edmonton passed away at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans on November 30, 2011 at the age of 87.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children–semicolon– Valerie, Louise, Greg, Elaine (Terry) Aronyk, Bob, Jo-Anne (Jerry) Wright, grandchildren–semicolon– Jesse (Kerri), Jason, Jeff, Myles, Kim (Ben) Holmes, Lisa, Jay, Deidre, Ava, Kevin, Sarah, Derek, great grandchildren–semicolon– Zoe, Maya, Matthew, Olivia, Aydea, Rory, Preston, brother–semicolon– Leo Keats, sisters–semicolon– Mary Oldfield, Pauly Keats, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
John was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, son, Brian–semicolon– and daughter, Brenda–semicolon– his father Thomas, his mother Mary, his brothers–semicolon– Alfred, Raymond, Tommy, Frank, Michael, George, and David, sisters–semicolon– Lou, Anita, Irene, Thomasine, and Monica.
Outside of his 30 years working at Imperial Oil’s Strathcona Refinery and operating Keates Insurance Services Ltd., John’s life was filled with family and community service.
He volunteered with many organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Social Services, International Year of Disabled Persons, Society of Parents and Friends of Michener Centre.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Kipnes Centre’s Fraser House, for all their kindness and care given to Dad.
