Jessie Marjory Dust passed away peacefully, in the presence of her family, on Christmas Eve, 2018, at St. Albert’s Youville Home. Born to Josef and Genefa Budzyna on January 1, 1938, Jessie grew up in Wilkie, Saskatchewan. She took her nurse’s training with the Grey Nuns at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, and worked in North Battleford, Calgary, Salmon Arm, Hinton, Edmonton, before retiring from St. Albert Hospital. Jessie was most proud of serving as a maternity nurse in the “old hospital,” and of her final role as Unit Manager of Surgery, wherein she oversaw the unit’s planning, transition, and move to the “new hospital.”
A breast cancer survivor and an RV enthusiast, Jessie loved knitting, mystery novels, and both flower and vegetable gardening. She is mourned by Norman, her husband of 53 years–semicolon– their children Jason, Loraine and her husband Paul, Brian and his wife Lindsey–semicolon– and her beloved grandsons, Josh, Riley, and Luke.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 7:00PM Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Albert Catholic Parish, 7 St. Vital Ave, St. Albert.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Youville Home (Grey Nuns) in St. Albert, Alberta.
