On November 30, after 90 amazing years, our mother passed away peacefully with family by her side.
She was a woman of great intellect, fortitude and integrity. She lived a life of faith with a strong love for family, community and the world around her.
Born in Rivie`re Qui Barre, she was one of five children to pioneers Alex and Elizabeth McGillis. Educated at Normal School, she taught in Edson before completing her B.Ed at the University of Alberta. In 1952, she married Bill and they went on to raise their family. She proudly served on the Edmonton Catholic School board for 24 years. A member of the CWL for60 years, she was a strong proponent of education and advancement of women.
When time allowed, she enjoyed bridge, traveling and gardening. Her family, Dianne (Terry) Dunnigan,
Maureen (Doug) Smith, Bill (Lorna) McDonald, Ian (Korey) McDonald, Rod (Debi) McDonald, Cathy (Brian) Wolfman and Jane McDonald, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, will proudly carry on her legacy.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill, and son James.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Parish on 9040-95 Avenue.

Hope your trip home and wasn”t too harrowing and, despite the terrible weather, I hope you had the opportunity to get together with friends and family at the funeral.
