It is with much love and heavy hearts that the family of James “Jim” M. Hood announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the age of 77 years.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his children: Andrew, Michelle (Michel), Angela, Sandra (Mel); grandchildren: Aiden, Keely, Jaxon and Jordan.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Joanne, in 2014.
Jim was born in Dundee, Scotland on March 2, 1943 and immigrated to Canada in the early 1960’s. Although in Canada for most of his life, Jim treasured his Scottish roots and was able to reconnect with his family over the last few years. Most will remember Jim for his stories, his eagerness to grab a pint with co-workers and friends, his love to dance (especially with Joey) and always a smile.
Although work and friends were very valuable to him, nothing compared to the love he had for spending time with his family. During the last few years of his life, family became even more important to Jim. He was content to spend his time with his daughters and their families, whether it was a loud family dinner, a quiet coffee visit, go out for ice cream or to the pub for fish and chips.
The family wishes to send a special, very heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Youville Home. Your caring and support for our dad will not be forgotten. He did not consider Youville to be a facility, but a home. He considered the staff in Unit 1 to be his friends. We will be forever grateful to each of you who helped care for him, who teased and joked with him and had to dodge out of his way while he plowed through with his walker and smart wink.
The family has opted to have a private service, later in summer. Considering the current situation, a small Celebration of Life may be planned, at a later date.

Dear Sandra and Angie
It’s with such sadness I hear about Jim’s passing. We fondly remember his style and grace as he swept your mom and us ladies around the dance floor during dance lessons! What a fabulous time we had getting to know both your parents and being part of your amazing family during that time period! Thanks for the memories- we will never forget our fun times together!
Gone – but never forgotten❤️
Love connie and Terry
