I moved in across the street from the Matte family in the early 80’s. I met Jeff and Jarrett almost immediately and we were inseparable for a number of years. I spent much time with the Matte family and to this day i cherish it dearly. I remember Jacques as being very much a family man with strong family values. He could get pretty hot at us kids from time to time but it was always for good reason and he would explain the reasons why. He instilled the values to us, life lessons.
I have so many fond memories of Jacques, Brenda and the boys I could go on for hours. Taking us to the movies for $2.50 Tuesdays, Jacques helping us build a fort and delivering it out to the bush on his trusty Ford pickup. I remember accidentally smashing their bedroom window with a golf ball and I felt so bad i cried. I was expecting (and deserving) the worst, but Jacques forgave me and took care of it. That was the kind of guy he was. Such a kind hearted man.
I will remember Jacques fondly for the rest of my days and thank him for being part of my life. My deepest condolences to a family I will always hold in the highest regard.

We have lots of fond memories of Jacques on the golf course and on the job sites. We first met Jacques in the early nineties and took a liking to him right away as he did to us. Mike and I worked with Jacques for many years and found him to be an honest and trustworthy man, he always stuck up for the little guy and treated us and his guys with respect. After retiring he kept in touch with phone calls, breakfasts and the occasional plumbing and gas jobs at his home. Lennox Drive is nicked named Jacques’ street by me, my wife Jan and our friends. We all remember the spectacular displays at Christmas time and how much pride and many hours Jacques spent making his yard pristine for his neighbours and anybody driving by. We will miss his sense of humour and the man that he was. He will live on in our memories.
