It is with profound sadness that the family of Jacques Gouin announce his peaceful passing on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of 97 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Edwidge and their children: Michel (Jutta), Marc, Gerald (Diana); daughter-in-law Debbie; grandchildren: Emmanuel (Tracy), Danielle, Amber, Matthew, Megan, Elise and Nicole; great-grandchildren: Oceanna, Dakotah and Austyn; his sister, Therese Aubin and brother-in-law, Henri Paulhus (Jean); sister-in-law, Florence Paulhus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jacques was predeceased by his eldest son, Robert and his eldest sister, Jacqueline.
Jacques was born in Lachine, Quebec on August 15, 1923 and spent his early years in the greater Quebec area. As a young man, he eventually worked his way out west, where he met the love of his life, Edwidge, in Manitoba. They were married on May 24, 1951 and went on to raise their family of 4 sons in Edmonton, AB. Jacques wore many hats throughout his career. He was a ticketed welder, pipefitter and instrument fitter, but also mastered many other skills throughout his long life. Jacques always loved to be productive and gave his hours to building, gardening, the church and his family. His greatest joy was instilling his knowledge and work ethic to his children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Z. Chrzanowski for his many years of compassionate care, enabling Jacques to remain in his home until just a few days prior to his passing.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Assumption Catholic Church in Edmonton. Please call Marc at 780 951 5448 for further details.
