1930 – 2021
With deep sadness and broken hearts, the family of Jacques Bernier announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Jacques was a cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his large boisterous family. He was our family’s heart and soul and his absence will be deeply felt.
Jacques is survived by his children Lucie (Barry), Suzanne (Joe), Helene (Jean), Robert (Kelly), son-in-law Paul and Diane (David). He will also be remembered lovingly by his 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren in addition to a large extended family throughout Canada and many dear lifelong friends.
Jacques was predeceased by the love of his life Claire, his daughter, Lise and most recently his deeply missed and loved grandson, Michael.
Jacques was first and foremost a man of great faith who put his family above all else and his “joie de vivre” was infectious. He was a dedicated physician who treated his colleagues and staff like his extended family. He was happiest and most content however on his “Bernierville” property at Pigeon Lake with his always growing brood at his side. Doc was simply a Pigeon Lake legend!
The family would like to extend our immense gratitude to the Misericordia Hospital care teams on both the medical ward and the ICU, particularly the dedicated nurse angels in ICU that cared for Grandpapa and all of us with so much compassion and dedication. We are eternally grateful.
Due to present day restrictions, a private funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23, at 11 am MST followed by a private interment at St. Joachim cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Jacques’ name to “The Foundation of St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College”, “Hope Mission” or to the charity of your choice.
