On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, Jacob Bo Four Lau passed away peacefully in his sleep at 96 years of age.
Jacob was born in Macau. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and a self-made man. He grew up in a very large family and lived through the Depression, and World War II and its aftermath. Life was not easy. He started working at a very young age. After he got married, to make ends meet, he planned and executed a business plan that allowed him to go from a street cart selling home-made egg roll biscuits to a brick-and-mortar store, which he eventually expanded to include a second store. His business acumen allowed him to provide for his family a comfortable living.
Jacob and his wife immigrated to Canada in 1992. He was predeceased by his wife, Pui Hing Cheng in 2001. He will be sadly missed and mourned by his children: Mary (Kai Cheong), Fatima (Tony Pui Lung), Pedro (Cecilia), Isabel (Charles) and Francis (Ivy); grandchildren: Cecilia (Veland), Christopher, Joanna, Thomas (Christina), Lucas, Chester, Percy, Brian, Marcus (Fumiko) and Quentin (Colleen) and great-grandchildren, Miyuka and Titus.
The family would like to thank Mandy Kwok and all the staff members of Unit 5C, Edmonton General for their compassionate care of Jacob over the last six years.
