We said goodbye to our dear Aunty Irma on March 18, 2022.
Irma Irene Diewert (nee: Hanson) resided in South Terrace Continuing Care for the past 3 years. Irma was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Grace Hanson; sister, Cornelia Hanson; brother, Gordon Hanson; and former spouse, Lawrence Diewert. Left to mourn are Irma’s nieces and nephews: Glen Hanson, Kevin Hanson, Shawnna Pracejus (John), and Maura Champagne (Mark). She has many great-nieces and nephews.
She grew up in Cherhill, Alberta. She was a very good student and an exceptional athlete. Her friends remember her as an excellent bowler, cook, and crafter, with a laugh that tickled those around her. She moved to Edmonton to attend college and begin her career. Irma was a legal secretary and held professional positions with law firms, city, and provincial governments. Irma also worked as an enumerator and volunteered much of her time after her retirement. Irma could often be found at the library and liked listening to local choral music concerts. Irma loved watching sports and cheered for the Edmonton Oilers and Elks. She especially liked watching curling tournaments.
Aunty Irma will be missed by so many; however, there will not be a service at her request.
For those who wish to donate to a cause, her favorite charity was The Hope Mission in Edmonton: 9908 106 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T5H 0N6.
