
Irene was born in Baay, Lingayen Pangasinan Philippines on October 20, 1921. She studied at Philippine Women’s University took Bachelor of Arts in Education with Specialization in English-Literature and Home Economics. She was expected to graduate Magna Cum Laude but was not granted because of the onset of World War II. However, her outstanding academic achievements enabled her to receive a recognition to teach. She was a teacher by profession and settled later to become a modest homemaker and an accomplished business woman. She was married to Ruben Milag Cacapit before the Judge on June 2, 1948, and subsequently got married at the church on June 18, 1963.
She migrated to Canada in July 1983 where she lived her life as best she can.
She was a sincere friend for many and most importantly she was a dedicated wife, tireless mother, kind grandmother and loving great grandmother. She is survived by her husband Ruben M. Cacapit–semicolon– 11 children: Josefina C. Domagas, Rone C. Rosette, Mercedes C. Capalongan, Ruben R. Cacapit Jr., Manuel R. Cacapit, Corazon C. Nesbitt, Juanito R. Cacapit, Rolando R. Cacapit, Lilia C. Dioquino, Romualdo R. Cacapit and Jesusita R. Francisco, 47 grandchildren: oldest grandchild Robert Aromin, youngest grandchild Ishmael Cacapit and 36 great grandchildren: oldest great grandchild Hope Karley Chen, youngest great grandchild Gabriella Domagas.
Irene’s profound love of life and dedication to her family as well as her kindness and compassion to others will forever be cherished and solemnly remembered.
