Hilda Moir, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a very special woman, whose life brought joy to all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Craig (Peg), Grant (Kelly), Wayne (Deanna) and Sean (Alison) and seven grandchildren–semicolon– Jill, Mark (Tracy), Alanna, Matt, Keiran, Anthony and Will.
Also remembered by her niece Valerie in Holland and nephew Christopher (Mel) in England and their families, along with a number of friends in Canada and Britain.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Alex, a son Ross and her sister Edna.
Hilda was born and raised in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. Working on a farm in Southern England as a volunteer with the Women’s Land Army, during the Second World War, she met Alex. Hilda came to Canada in 1951, married Alex and started a family.
Hilda strove to see the good in all people, and displayed kindness to anyone she met. She had an amazing sense of humor that was infectious to all around her. Her life was dedicated to her family.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to Hilda’s friend and companion Aleksandra, the staff at the Sherwood Care Center who cared for Hilda over the years she was a resident there and Dr. Trent Dusang.
A Memorial Service, celebrating Hilda’s life, will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton, Alberta. (Meridian Street can only be accessed heading south on Anthony Henday (HWY 216)–semicolon– – the access is 1 km south of the Sherwood Park Freeway on the Anthony Henday)
