
We are sad to announce the loss of Hermine on January 25, 2014 at the age of 86 years.
Hermine is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Keith) Fuhr of Stony Plain–semicolon– son-in-law Reuben Fuhr of Sherwood Park–semicolon– grandchildren, Julie (Steven) Kroeker of Spruce Grove, Michelle (Charles) Ward of Sherwood Park, Charlene Fuhr of Lac Ste. Anne, Bradley (Rebecca) Fuhr of Okotoks, and Nicole (Lance) Cadrin of Okotoks–semicolon– great-grandchildren, Zachary and Meagan Kroeker, Sophia, Gabriela, Ciara and Gianna Ward, Anika and Portia Fuhr Kuharic, Aurora, Ewan and Olivia Fuhr, Presley and Cole Cadrin–semicolon– as well as numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Romaniuk–semicolon– daughter, Cynthia Fuhr–semicolon– parents, Joseph and Rachel LaRocque (née Letendre)–semicolon– brothers, Peter and Sam–semicolon– sisters, Lilly Cunningham, Stella Courteorielle and Adeline Bourguignon.
Hermine was born in Onoway, AB and spent an adventure-filled childhood on her family’s farm at Lac Ste. Anne before moving to the foothills of Alberta as a teenager. While there, she met her soul mate, Michael Romaniuk. They were married on May 15, 1945. In 1947, Mike and Hermine welcomed twin daughters Cynthia and Sylvia to the world, and their family was complete.
The family relocated to the lakeside village of Wabamun in 1959, where they built a life of love and adventure.
Hermine will be remembered for her caring and passionate nature, famous cookies and casseroles, crafting and card-playing skills, love of travel and adventure, strength, confidence and resilience.
A Prayer Vigil will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.–semicolon– both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wabamun, AB.

I am truly saddened to learn of Hermine”s passing. I am fortunate to spend some time with her during my last couple of visits to Wabamun and was reassured to know she was still the same calm and centred lady I remember when I was young.
