With enormous sadness we announce that Helga Colberg passed away peacefully on September 4, 2016 at the age of 94. Lovingly remembered by her children Susan and Torben, she is also survived by her two grandsons Eric (Tina) and Ed, and great grandson Blake. She was predeceased by her husband (the love of her life) Georg, sister Valborg, and parents Frieda and Waldemar as well as daughter-in-law Trudy.
Helga was a kind, generous, loving soul—exceptionally resourceful, resilient, and wise. She faced life’s challenges with great strength and courage, and willingly gave of her time and talents to anyone who needed them. She was a skilled seamstress and her dinners and cheesecakes were legendary. Her dignified bearing, adventurous spirit, and wicked sense of humor were an inspiration to all who knew her.
The family is extremely grateful to all who provided compassionate and attentive care at CapitalCare Grandview during the past three years.
At Helga’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, or other tributes, please consider making a donation in her name to the Edmonton Humane Society or the War Amps.
