It is with a heartfelt sadness that the family of Helga Lohmeier announces her passing on January 4, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Helga will be forever cherished by her husband of 67 years, Andreas (Andrew); as well as her children, Elke (Hans) and Ralph (Sandy); grandchildren: Thomas (Wendy), Martin (Andrea), Nicholas (Patri), Mitchell (Erin) and Carly; and great-grandchildren: Nico, Ivan and Oscar.
Helga was predeceased by her son, Klaus; sister, Herta and parents, Alois and Irma Mihatsch.
Helga was born in Einsiedel Sudetenland and was resettled in Western Germany after the war. There she met, and later married Andrew and had her first two children before the family immigrated to Canada in 1958. When her third child was of school age, Helga, who loved fashion, worked for Eatons and later the Bay (St. Albert), where she had a long career. After retiring she joined the St. Albert TOPS club for weekly meetings and had many friends there. She travelled often to Germany to visit her mother and relatives, keeping relationships strong. Helga had a loving, social and generous nature, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no viewing or public service. There will be a Private Memorial Service and interment of ashes at the St. Albert Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations in Helga’s name may be made the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.

Dear Family,
Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your wife, mother and (great) grandmother. She was a nice and gentle person. We met her at the marriage of Tom and Wendy in 2011. She will be missed but the memory stays.

Dear Lohmeier Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Helgas passing.
Helga and Andreas were friends of my mom and dad (Henry & Erika Wutzke) when we all lived on Grandora Cres. They shared many happy times together. I remember Helga as a very energetic, happy and joyful person.
My deepest sympathies to all of you.
