MEIER, Helen Margaret
It is with saddened hearts that Helen passed into her heavenly home March 29th, 2014. She has been a patient in palliative care at Norwood – Edmonton, AB.
Born August 24th, 1930 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. Helen was the 11th child from a family of sixteen, the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Meier of Tramping Lake, Saskatchewan. Sister of Philip, Joe, Lena, Johanna, Mary, Edward (Mary) and Anne (Allen)–semicolon– sister-in-law of Irene, Anne and Pearl–semicolon– aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was predeceased by brothers, John, Jacob, Peter, George and Martin–semicolon– sisters, Dorothy, Margaret and Johanna–semicolon– sister-in-law, Kay and brothers-in-law, Nick Kilistoff, Ted Lucko and Marvin Huckaby.
Helen was a very devout Catholic and her faith never wavered even in her darkest times. She lived in Edmonton most of her life, worked at the GWG factory and other jobs, then due to her illness was unable to work but continued to live her life as best as she could. She had a gift and talent for needlework and did beautiful crotchet work especially for the family and for friendship society.
Cremation has taken place at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home. Memorial Service and interment to take place in Sardis, BC at a later date.
Thanks go out to Dr. Chang and staff at Capital Care Norwood for their care and kindness shown to Helen while in their care. Thank you to the staff at Connelly-McKinley for your unending assistance, it is greatly appreciated.
