With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Helen Cecelia (Pellerin) Delorey, at the age of 89 on March 31, 2021. Helen was born in Larry’s River, Nova Scotia, the youngest child of Geneva (Pettipas) and Augustus Pellerin. She leaves to mourn her daughter Jean (Alan) Skip of Grande Prairie, AB, and will be lovingly remembered by her precious grandsons, Cameron of Grande Prairie, AB and Curtis of St. Albert, AB. Helen also leaves to grieve her special niece, Mary (Brian) Richard, Madeleine Lovsin who loved Helen as her ‘Nana’, her dear friend Rose Goodenough from the Chateau Mission Court, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Helen was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Joseph ‘Joe’, her son Jerome, her brothers William, Dan, John and Sylvester, her sisters Louise (Theodore) Avery, Mary (Bruce) Cole, and Rose McGirr, and two siblings in infancy. Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Helen and her beloved Joe moved from Larry’s River in 1969 to Hay River, NWT to raise their family. As a lifelong devotion to her Catholic faith, Helen was instrumental in founding the Catholic Woman’s League in Larry’s River and maintained her membership throughout her life and contributed to her church community in any capacity she could. She spent many years taking care of children and was well known in her community for baking for the neighbourhood children. Helen and Joe moved from NWT to Alberta in 1992 and spent many wonderful years there until Joe’s death in 2006. She made many new friends and was happiest when she was in the company of her loved ones or friends.
A private family Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00. Donations in Helen’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.

My deepest condolences to Jean and family in Helen’s passing. Helen always looked after my mother Irene Bourgeois at the Chateau Mission. Helen lived across the hall from my mother. I made a point to visit Helen each time I was at the Chateau. I also visited Helen when my mother passed away and called her a couple of times. I will truly miss her loving smile and friendship.
