Gwladys Doreen Spenrath passed away peacefully on September 29, 2019 at the age of 92 years.
Born in Blyth, England, she immigrated to Canada in 1928 and settled in the Vermilion area where she met her husband, Josef. She spent most of her life helping her husband build the family business while raising a large family and travelling.
Gwladys was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Josef Spenrath.
Gwladys is survived by her sister, Matilda Kiesling; children, Mary (Bob) Sword, Joe (Dawne) Spenrath, Theresa (Gary) Loblick, Rose (Boyd) Oberhoffner, Anita (Rob) McLean, Paul (Suzanne) Spenrath and Bob (Diane) Spenrath; 19 grandchildren: Sue-Ann (Chris) Cooke, Jennifer (Shaune) Turpin, Chris Sword, Nicole (Travis) Cunningham, Ryan (Lisel) Spenrath, Curtis (Kristine) Loblick, Caryn (Neil) Stone, Matthew (Carina) Oberhoffner, Kristine (Kyle) Chant, Amy (Dave) Wood, Kathleen (Nathan) McLean, Debra (Rick) Wathen, Meghan (Kevin) Savage, Lindsay (Joel) Kristianen, Sarah (Riley) Spenrath, Elizabeth Spenrath and David Spenrath; and 30 cherished great grandchildren.
Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family. She will be deeply missed by all.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Connelly McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street NW, Edmonton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 18, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9830 148 St NW, Edmonton.
In honor of Gwladys, the family requests that attendees wear something purple.
