1953 – 2023
Gordon “Gord” McDermott, 70, of Quesnel, BC born on February 23, 1953, passed away on September 1, 2023, in Edmonton, Alberta. Gord was a hardworking and life-loving individual who cherished his family and took pride in being a loving provider.
Gord is survived by his beloved wife, Doris; and their daughters, Amanda and Allison (Joey); he also leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Colden and Sky. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith (Arnold) Shultz; his father, Herbert McDermott; his sister, Brenda; and his brother, Gerry.
Gord’s passion for his work led him to establish his own company, McDermott Electrical, where he dedicated himself to serving the community for many years. As a master electrician, Gord’s expertise was widely recognized and appreciated.
Outside of work, Gord enjoyed various hobbies, including sports, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and friends. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to create lasting memories with his loved ones.
A ceremony to honor Gord’s life will be held on September 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., in Connelly-McKinley Downtown Chapel, 10011 114 Street NW, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Kidney Foundation, a cause that Gord held close to his heart.
Gord McDermott will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy as a devoted family man, hardworking professional, and caring friend will forever be cherished. May he rest in peace.
