On Friday, March 15, 2013, Gordon Wright of Edmonton passed away at the age of 89 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Isabel and children, Kenneth (Grace), James (Frida) and Kathleen (Ian) as well as grandchildren, Megan, Benjamin, David, Jessie, Jacob, Jonathan, Kenny, Matthew, and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn. He was predeceased by his daughter, Beth and son-in-law, Mark McCullough.
Gordon served aboard the H.M.C.S. Swansea during WWII and had a career in the public service of the province of Alberta where he established the Labour Research Department and acted as its Director from 1968 to 1983. He proudly served as president of the R.C.N.A., and volunteered for numerous community organizations including the Poppy fund.
A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
