My deepest condolences Steve, Angie and family. Gisela was a lovely lady and I was so lucky to know her. She was a neighborhood Mom to all of us growing up, and then Nana Goosey to my son and nephews. We all love your Mom very much and she will be greatly missed.

We are deeply sorry to know about Gisela’s passing. She was a source of light and encouragement to those us who were fortunate to know her. Definitely one of the best persons we have ever met. May she rest in peace. Her smile and kindness will endure in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times.
Love,

Elaine says
Stephen and Wendy: I lived at 23 Grandora Crescent from 1970 to 1975 before we emigrated to the southern hemisphere. “Stevie” (as he was then known to my child self) and I were born on the same day in the same year; and thus attended each other’s birthday parties (with other neighbourhood children).
One year, I gave a drum and drumsticks to Steve for his birthday present (that gift having been bought by my mother). When Steve unwrapped the present and began his percussive efforts, Gisela quizzically asked the attendant mothers: “Who’s the sadist?”
When I returned to St Albert in 1999 (25 years after we left Canada) I was able to trace you, Steve, through your mother. I arrived on the doorstop of the blue-clad house at number 10, rang the bell and was greeted by Gisela who effusively gasped: “Oh Elaine” and invited me in with a warm hug and a bologna sandwich with cheese on rye (a sandwich that I often ate at your house as a child in the early 1970s).
O tempora! O mores!
May Gisela’s gentle soul rest in peace and the knowledge that you were loved, just as you loved, bring you peace and comfort.
