Sandra and Donna sadly announce the passing of their Mom, Geraldine, on January 7, 2021 in St. Albert, Alberta. She is also survived by her husband, Emil; Grand Sons, Stuart, Jesse (Kristin), Kyle (Miranda), Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas; little sister, Gwen Campbell, who gave her the name Deanie; sister-in-law, Jeane (Chris) Underwood and her sons-in-law, Gregg, Rick and Gord (Maggie). Mom was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Melvin; parents, June and Gerald Ife; brother-in-law, Alan and a host of dear and wonderful family and friends. After Dad died, Mom married a childhood sweetheart, Emil Berg in 1999 and that marriage brought more people for Mom to love, Brad (Brian), Thyra (Ray) and two more ‘Grands’ Keeley, Jake and the rest of Emil’s extended family and friends. Together, they did things that both had been denied with the early passing of their first spouses, travelling throughout Canada, the U.S. and parts of Europe and thoroughly enjoying their retirement years.
We will all cherish the many beautiful creations that Mom quilted and stitched for us, our family, and friends. Mom had uniquely close relationships with her nieces and nephews; Sharon (Bill), Wayne (Karin), Joan, Jerry (Joanne), Brian (Karen), Alanna, Sharon (Scott), Darren, Ken (Cindy), Chris (Kathryn), Brent (Tammy) and Cindy (Rob). She made friends wherever she went and from all walks of life and she kept them too. She was our angel on earth. We will have a memorial for mom in the fall when we can gather at the Pembina River-a place of such happiness throughout our lives. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alberta Wilderness Association, 455-12 St NW, Calgary AB, T2N 1Y9 or LoSeCa Foundation, 215-1 Carnegie Drive, St Alberta, AB, T8N 5B1. Thank you everyone for you prayers, meditations, and support these past few, terrible weeks. “She was bendable light: she shone around every corner of my day.” Jerry Spinelli, Stargirl.
Joan Melvin says
My Auntie Deanie lit up the world with her love for life and living it to the fullest. Her laugh was hearty and often heard. She was kind, generous, compassionate, clever, creative and so much more. Deanie lived her life in service to others and never expected anything in return. God bless her soul and may she rest in peace knowing her time on earth was well spent. She will be greatly missed by many.

The light that will forever shine in my soul is because my Mom and Dad named me after these two Angel’s that shared their love and life with me. I can only pray that my light will shine bright for my cousins Sandie and Donna. Love you both so much,God bless you both ❤️❤️🦅

Brad and Thyra says
We were so happy and blessed to have Deanie brighten our family for 21 years. She was a gift to Dad and us. Our sympathy to Deanie’s first families and let’s all remember the great times with her. Fortunately, there were many.
