I met Fred through the Calgary Rose Society. I was saddened to hear of the passing of such a gracious man. He grew wonderful roses, supported the CRS for decades and was always willing to share his knowledge with new members. I always found him very interesting to talk to as he had so many varied interests in addition to roses. I remember how proud he was in 2003 when he finally won “Queen of the Show” after growing and exhibiting roses for twenty six years. As he said at the time “if you haven’t won yet, keep trying, it might take a while”. On behalf of the Society I want to extend my condolences to you and to all Fred’s extended family. He will be greatly missed.

    Jenny Hart
    President
    Calgary Rose Society
