Heffernan, Florence Nadia
Florence Nadia (nee Zubick) Heffernan passed away peacefully on December, 25 2018 surrounded by her family at the Misericordia Community Hospital. We are comforted by knowing that she went to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ and her husband Paul in heaven.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie (Bob) McColl and Cathy (Chris) Kitching. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Ryan (Alyson), Jayme (Peter), Connor, Carson and her great-grandchildren Ethan, Logan, and Nixon. Flo “Mama” was born in Radway, Alberta on March 27, 1927 into a family of 13 children. Mama will be remembered for her love of sports including CFL football (40 year season ticket holder Edmonton Eskimos), and golfing. She spent many summers playing at the Edmonton Country Club both in the ladies league, and with her grandchildren. Mama had distinct class, and a sense of style that was all her own. However, she will be most remembered for her love of her family including her children and grandchildren. Mama’s entire purpose was spent enlightening the lives of her family, a constant selflessness that will carry forward into many generations to come. Her spunkiness and sense of humor, including her many memorable sayings, was the spark of our family. Mama was unique and special in every way, even when just sitting with her red wine full of ice making witty remarks. Our Mama will be forever cherished, held dear in our hearts, and never forgotten for all that she did for us.
A private celebration of her life will be held by the family in keeping with her wishes. We would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Braam for his compassionate care for Mama, and the wonderful staff at Lifestyles Terra Losa who made her last few years comfortable.
