Peacefully and surrounded by her family, mom passed away on March 12, 2016 at the age of 86.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Ben (Stéphane), Rick, and George (Corinee)–semicolon– daughters: Cecile (Len) Cuku, and Lorraine Glasel–semicolon– grandchildren: Dennis, Sherry, Duane (Natasha) Cuku, Brad, Jeff (Kim), Cameron, Haley, Bryce Van De Walle, and Sasha White–semicolon– great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Parker, Lauryn, Cole, Chaz, Cash Cuku, Austin, Brooke Van De Walle, and Karter Eaton.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter–semicolon– sisters / brother-in-law: Claire / Rolland Demers, Antoinette / Tigo Larose–semicolon– brother / sister-in-law: Remi / Lynn Préfontaine–semicolon– parents: Leon / Marguerite Préfontaine–semicolon– in-laws: Augusta / Benonie Van De Walle–semicolon– sister-in-law / brother-in-law: Frances / William Flynn–semicolon– and other relatives and friends.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2016 at St. Albert Catholic Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, Alberta. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at St. Albert Catholic Parish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ferne’s name to Van De Walle / Préfontaine Scholarship c/o Foundation of SJS and NTC, 8421-101 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6A 0L1 (NTC – Newman Theological College)

Our sincere condolences on the death of your dear mother . We are so fortunate that we have known Ferne and were able to experience a tiny part of her life. A mom can not be replaced , but we hope that all the good and happy moments that you have had together may be a support for the difficult period that follows. A lot of strength , we pray for you . Now Walter and Ferne be together again , let that be a consolation.

So sad to read on Facebook that your sister Fern had passed away.I enjoyed visiting with her when you and I went to see her. Although it seems hard right now I know your faith will see you through to know that Fern is well and free on the other side. Bob and I send our sincere condolences to you and the families!
