The family of Elizabeth B. Sharko (Betty) of Edmonton, Alberta are saddened to announce her passing on September 22, 2021 at the age of 94 years old. Betty overcame many health issues over the last few years and it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye. We can take comfort knowing she will be embraced in heaven.

Betty will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Richard (Marjorie), Lyle, James (Maureen) and Annamarie; 12 grandchildren, Levi, Cam, Nicole, Candace,  Justin, Brant, Mitchel , Cara, Riley, Kenzie, Sadie and Jaimen; and 6 great grandchildren, Kyla, Lincoln, Olivia, Charlie, Summer and Noah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was survived by her brothers, Emery, Raymond, Edwin and Lorne Pinkoski; sister-in-laws, Lenora, Delores, Anne, Judy and Carol. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Sharko; parents, Peter and Mary Pinkoski; sister, Virginia Murphy and her brothers, Allan and Lloyd Pinkoski.

Betty’s family, God, and her church community meant everything to her.

The family wishes to send a special Thank You to the staff of St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Betty during the last 10 months.  Betty volunteered for many years at St. Joe’s, and it was her wish for this to be her final care home.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 8th, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Church, 10661-82 Avenue NW at 1:00 PM. Immediately following the Mass, the internment will take place at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only immediate family will be able to attend the funeral in person. Arrangements are being made available for a live video link.

Following the Covid-19 recommendations, internment is able to accommodate additional outdoor guests if interested. Approximate arrival at Holy Trinity will be 2:30 depending on the length of the service.

Thinking of all of you at this sad time. It is never easy to loose a loved one regardless of their age, especially a mother / grandmother. Hopefully knowing she is in a better place will easy some of your sorrow. Hugs to all.

    To Betty’s family,

We enjoyed Betty as a Parish member who was involved with several activities as well as prayer groups at St. Agnes & St. Anthony’s Parish.
She was a long time member of the CWL, and will be missed dearly.
Hope you find solace in knowing that Betty was such a devout lady, we are certain that she is smiling at us from Heaven, by the Lord’s side.
    With our deepest sympathy,
Maria and the Parish Pastoral Care Team
