It is with great sadness that we announce that Elaine Popowich (née Malo) passed away peacefully at the age of 67.
From her early years growing up on the farm, to her time as a NAIT Instructor, to her final years as a very proud Grandmother, Elaine was driven by a genuine desire to make the best life possible for those around her.
She will be remembered by friends and family, which were one and the same, as a kind, giving, and nurturing soul. She was well known for her generosity, empathy, and ability to make those around her feel perfectly at home. Elaine always had an ear ready to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and a big hug waiting at the door which was always open for a visit. Although her time with us was far too short, our fond memories of her are truly immeasurable; we are all fortunate to have spent time with someone so selfless and caring. Elaine always gave her very best and lived a life guided by strong faith, values, love, and joy. She counted her blessings daily and would spread her beautiful smile to those passing by. Elaine cherished her loved ones deeply and always had room to spare in her heart.
She is survived by her loving husband Ray of 42 years, son Ryan and wife Jamie, daughter Jaclyn and husband Blair, grandchildren Quinn, Ethan, Tessa, Jacob, and Julie, and brother Eugene.
She was predeceased by her father Adelard, mother Bernadette, brother George, and grandson Jonah.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Basilica at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
Donations can be made to Wings of Providence in lieu of flowers or memorial gifts.
