The family of Eglan Francis Hugh Hector Archibald Sargeant of St. Albert Alberta is saddened to announce his passing on January 7, 2021. Following a lengthy battle with various conditions Eglan passed at 88 years of age.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 37 years, Crystal Alice Sargeant; son, who he was very proud of, Joseph (Kate) Sargent; sisters, Sybil (Tony) Simmons, and Shirley; mother-in-law, Alice Blair; brothers-in-law, David Kraus and Brian Kraus; sisters-in-law, Deanne Kraus and Gracie Jane Kraus; grandchildren Aliyah and Damien Sargeant, Sterling; niece, Biregette; nephew, Ian as well as numerous other friends and family members.
Eglan was predeceased by his parents Joseph Nathaniel and Agnus Sargeant; sisters, Ina and Jean and fathers-in-law Werner Kraus; and stepfather-in-law, Sydney Blair.
Eglan was born in Georgetown, British Guyana in 1932.He worked many jobs through his life including, but not limited to, a Police Officer, Construction Worker and Security Guard. His final job was at Walmart as a greeter. Every shopper will recall his cheerful smile and friendly greeting. Egaln was never out of work and continued to be employed well into his 80’s. When living in Georgetown he enjoyed playing Cricket but upon moving to Canada developed a love of fishing and gardening. Whilst in Canada he also became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Albert, Alberta. He was a brilliant cook and enjoyed making curry chicken and pepper pot for his family.
