Gary, Grant & families,

I am so sorry for your loss. My sister Janet (Dell”s neighbour) and I took lessons from Dell. Our children, Laura, Emma, Tait, and Meryl also took lessons and we all derived so much pleasure and enjoyment from those Saturday mornings. Dell was indeed a remarkable woman! She told us many stories about her life. I also remember, with great admiration, the way she cared for Doug during his latter years. My fondest memory of Dell involves a day when I came over to see the first yellow rose of the summer blooming in her front yard. I admired it, and she plucked it and gave it to me right then and there! Her willingness to spontaneously give to others was treasured by us all.

I appreciated your mother’s warm smile and joyous approach to life. She lived up to her first name- i found it peaceful to sit at talk with her at church gatherings. I sorry for your loss.

My condolences on the loss of an incredible lady, she even taught those of us with two left feet, how to make them presentable. The “Dell Hill Dancers” were formidable competitors at every games they competed in across Canada, and the world. If you need a piper, I volunteer, after all those years of playing in the basement…

My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. She had an enduring influence on my life. Her dedication, work ethic, and, mostly, her belief in me and my abilities left a lasting impression. I shall remember her with fondness and great appreciation.

Wonderful memories of Highland lessons in her basement in the 1960s. She was a model for me of discipline, kindness, dignity and–I suspect—patience with giggly and wiggly young girls. I am grateful.
