Our mother and Babcia passed away peacefully on the morning of November 22, just a few months short of her 100th birthday. We are proud of the quiet determination with which she overcame the many challenges her long life presented, and grateful for the devotion and wisdom which we witnessed in her words and actions. She centred her life on faith, gratitude, and inspiration from the beauty of nature and artistic creativity.
Left to continue her legacy are her daughter, Danusia, and son-in-law Michel, with whom she shared a special bond, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Gabrielle (Ryan) and Christopher. Also left to mourn her loss is her sister Lucy Wrobel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and abroad. She was predeceased by her husband Kazimierz, brothers Ryszard and Eugeniusz in Poland, and brothers Mike and Julian of Edmonton.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the kindness and support that Cecile received over the years from friends in Edmonton’s Polish community, as well as in the Terrace Heights neighbourhood, where she lived for almost 50 years. More recently, the unwavering goodwill and compassion of the staff at the Devonshire Care Centre, as well as the steadfast care and friendship of Ola and Leon Golebiewski, Mariola Olearczyk and Ela Lambe sustained her in her final years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Mieczyslaw Fidyka at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close NW, Edmonton, on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 11 am. Reception to follow at the church. Graveside service to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, please consider a donation to Caregivers Alberta, an organization dedicated to family carers.
