EHNES, Christine Rose
It is with great sadness that the family of Christine Rose Ehnes (nee Harty) announces her passing on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the age of 93 years.
Christine will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gabriel of 72 years, and her children Gloria (Peter) Kleparchuk of Sherwood Park, Charlene Seguin of Vanderhoof, BC, and Leroy (Dina) Ehnes of Red Deer. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Lori (Byron), Jennifer (Jamie), Nicole (Michael), Christopher, Allison, Briana, and Cameron–semicolon– and great grandmother to Connor, Zachary, Taizsia, Hannah, and Meleigha.
All who knew Christine recognized her zest for life, her forward thinking, and her eternal optimism. She constantly strove to better herself, and encouraged others to do the same. Her faith and perseverance enabled her to accept whatever life dealt her and continue onward with grace.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 75 Poirier Ave, St. Albert, on Sat Feb 4, at 11:00 am. Prayers will take place at the same location on Fri Feb 3, at 8:00 pm.

Aunt Christine will always be remembered and we will cherish her memory. She always had a kind word for everyone. Dad (George) always told us stories of them while growing up, Oh the trouble they would get into and try to pin it on each other. She was dearly loved by Our Whole Family and we know she is at peace. Remember the Good Times they will get you through the darkest moments. Aunt Christine will always live on in our hearts. Our Thoughts and Prayers are With All Of You. Auntie Christine and Uncle Gabriel are such a blessing to our family. I remember when I moved to Edmonton and had a phone in my name, I got a call from Auntie Christine one day asking if we were related – she was going through the phone book and saw my name. After Dan and I had Sylvia, Auntie Christine babysat for us once.
The Ehnes Family have always been close with the Harty Family. I felt especially close with Uncle Gabriel and Auntie Christine once I found out Uncle Gabriel\’s sister had also married my grandpa (before my grandma). I figured that made us doubly related.
I appreciate the time we got to spend with you in St. Albert, and the good role models you both provide for my husband and I. Your dedication to your faith is something we strive to emulate.
Thank you Uncle Gabriel and Auntie Christine!

Dearest Gabriel,
There are so many lives Christine touched in a positive way. So many memories that bring a smile and show the wonderful person she was. So many stories about how she made a difference or made someon\’s day. So many hearts that are feeling sadness. Because she was here — because she was loved.
So sorry for your loss.

Dearest Grandpa, Auntie Gloria, Uncle Peter and Mom,
I am so sorry that we were unable to attend Grandma\’s funeral and celebration of life. The service was beautiful and I know that she would have loved the DVD tribute that you compiled. Being so far away has never been so difficult, but know that you were all in my thoughts. Grandma was a remarkable woman and one of my fondest memories was when I came to interview her for a university class I was taking. It was amazing to learn so many new things about her and how innovative her thinking was in her youth. She truly was a great role model for women . I miss her with all of my heart and wish that I could be there with you. When I told Meleigha about Grandma her comment was, \”Now I have my own special angel to watch over me\” . I couldn\’t agree with her more. Love you!

I have been praying continually since I heard of my sister Christina passing. I know that she was a very special lady in God\’s eyes and she will now be justly rewarded for having lived a faith-filled life of service and devotion.
I don\’t think I have ever known a kinder or gentler person. She practiced her faith in so many ways and was a compassionate and loving person.
My prayers will continue as I ask God to bless you and your wonderful family and to give you the strength and courage you need in this very sad and difficult time.
I really wish I could have made it to the funeral so sending my love and prayers to you all.
I will miss her with all my heart.

It was with great sadness that we learned of Christine\’s passing. There are so few of my parent\’s generation still alive, and we will dearly miss her. My folks always spoke so highly of Christine and Gabriel. The Herbst/Ehnes family and the Harty family share so much of the same history and memories. One of my memories was of our family visit to Christine and Gabriels farm at Fort Kent, shortly after they had left the Faith district. I was quite young and had never been anywhere but the prairie landscape. I was totally amazed by all the trees at their new farm. When we arrived I was in awe, and asked Gabriel if he would let me cut down a tree (my only previous experience with an axe was the chopping off of a cedar fence post in our pasture — for which my dad was not pleased to say the least!). Gabriel told me to cut any tree I liked, as long as it didn\’t fall on the house. Christine and Gabriel have always made such efforts to travel south to participate in the family activities down here, and for that we are truly grateful. We pray that she is at peace now and enjoying the reunion of her many friends in heaven.

Leroy and Dina and all of the Ehnes Family – our most sincere condolences. Your Mom was clearly very special and so fortunate to be on this earth for 93 years – and with your Dad for so many of those years – and to see her children and grandchildren achieve success. No doubt a heartfelt loss for all and one to which we can relate with our own recent family loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Michael, Robin, Erin and Kerri

Our heartfelt love and prayers go out to you at this time.
I found this prayer for you Uncle Gabriel and Family
We little knew that day that God was going to all your name,
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
