Lori Neufeld (nee Shirvell) says
Dear Jane and Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you this week as you celebrate the life of your dad. Although we have never met, I wanted to let you know that your dad has meant a lot to my family, both now and when we were growing up. As a child I remember quite frequent visits from Pete, who I always found to be a jolly and kind man (resembling my Grandpa Shirvell (Charlie\’s brother Reginald) in many ways).
He was always thinking about us kids and bringing us clothes that you had outgrown. Through my university years, he was always curious to know how my studies were going. In recent years, knowing that I am a gardening fanatic, he always thought about me and saved his flower pots for me to start seeds in. The support he provided to my dad in 2010, when he was battling cancer, will never be forgotten by my family. Pete was there for him and despite his own health problems, managed to drag Dad out of the house and take him to his appointments.
I am sorry that I am unable to attend the celebration of Pete\’s life tomorrow, but I wanted to know that he is in our thoughts and prayers. We are very sorry for your loss.
