Cecile Desautels Bourget

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Cecile Bourget, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the age of 94 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Loren (Patricia) and Richard (Carolyn)–semicolon– her daughter Lee (Raymond) Fehr–semicolon– 12 grandchildren–semicolon– 24 great-grandchildren–semicolon– her brother Fern–semicolon– numerous other relatives, friends and former students.

She is predeceased by three brothers: Leo, Armand and Rosair.

Cecile was born December 6, 1919 to Eudore and Maria Desautels in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. Her primary education was obtained at Ponteix convent, Comfort school and Ponteix Public school. After obtaining a teaching certificate from Moose Jaw Normal School (1944-1945), she taught school for 35 years from Frenchville, in southern Saskatchewan to Jackfish Lake, in northern Saskatchewan. She got to know every corner of Saskatchewan. Her first school was Epinard School in Frenchville in 1945 and her last school was Ponteix High School in 1980. Her teaching career inspired many students over the years. Cecile obtained a meritorious award from Saskatchewan Education and an honorary life membership in the Shaunavon Education Association in 1980. Her teaching career inspired many students over the years.

After Cecile’s retirement, she moved to Saskatoon and continued to act as a mentor and a super volunteer. She enjoyed many activities including travelling with her children & grandchildren.
