Caroline Szmodis
March 22, 1922 – June 8, 2022
It is with great sadness and much love that we say good-bye to Caroline Szmodis, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was born in Dietersdorf, Austria and came to Canada in 1952 where she married her beloved Fred, and began a new chapter in her life.
Her memory shall be cherished by her daughter, Nancy (John); son, Gary; grandchildren: Jillian and Jonathan (Ashley); and great-grandchild, Chase. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, family and friends, both here and in Austria.
Caroline was predeceased by her dear husband in 2007. Many dear family members and friends have predeceased Caroline and now greet her with loving arms in heaven.
We will always remember her kind heart, her love, caring, strong faith and her ever present gentle smile. She will be dearly missed.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the dedication, care and compassion from the staff of the Citadel Care Centre (Elk Island Community) and the Lynnwood Capital Care Centre (4th floor). We also thank all of the dedicated doctors, nurses, aides, HomeCare staff, companions, pharmacists, and all those who have supported our mom and our families throughout this journey.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Parish, 75 Poirier Avenue, St. Albert, AB. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made in Caroline’s memory to The Capital Care Foundation.
