He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Bill and Michele Volk, of Sherwood Park, Alberta–semicolon– siblings Andrew (Shawn) and Jaxon his nephew, of Edmonton–semicolon– Neil (Natasha) of Sherwood Park, and Auriele (Matt) of Edmonton–semicolon– grandparents, Alex and Penny Volk of Rolling Hills, and Jerry Naughton of Sherwood Park, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and his favorite pet BooFang. Brent liked quadding at Big Horn, driving his Mustang, and in the winter, his truck. Brent loved learning, engineering and science. He was a third year Electrical Engineering student of the University of Alberta. Brent was a helper. He strove to make others feel loved and did whatever he could to make life better for people in need. He was a kind, gentle, beautiful soul. We will forever miss going dinosaur bone-hunting, swimming in the canal and his tinkering.
He will be forever loved and greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton Alberta. Meridian Street can only be accessed heading SOUTH on Hwy 216 (Anthony Henday) – the access is 1 km south of the Sherwood Park Freeway on Hwy 216.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Stollery Children’s Hospital or Canadian Mental Health Association.

I have not had contact with your family for many years, and it is hard to believe how fast the years have gone. I was in shock today, when Jan contacted Jill and the sadness was shared with me. I cannot begin to imagine how hard these past few days have been for your family. The loss of a son and brother, one I knew through the daycare and babysitting for you, as a young bright spirit who had so much to give the world, can not be easy. My thoughts and prayers will be with your family in the weeks and months ahead. May your memories be your best friend.

Wow… Can”t believe the news. Sending my condolences to the Volk family and friends. Brent was such an awesome guy- Super smart, kind, soft spoken, and always willing to help others. He definitely helped me more than once in the courses we had together. It was always interesting to hear about the neat projects he was working on. It”s not fair that someone with such a bright future be taken from us. You will be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to you Brent and your family.
