
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Blanche Kroetch. She was the youngest child of Philip and Sophie Kroetch of Strome, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Shirley and her two brothers, Elmer and Bruce. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters, Gladys Fecto, Dorothy Hauk, LaVerne McGrady, Vera Semkow and Phyllis Floyd.
Blanche trained as a nurse at the General Hospital in Edmonton, and went on to obtain a diploma in Public Health from Dalhousie University. Over the years, she held the positions of Assistant Supervisor, Supervisor, and held the Portfolio of Communicable Diseases for the Health Unit of Leduc Stathcona. She retired in 1995.
Blanche enjoyed playing the piano and travelling. She found the many courses she took at Newman College to be interesting and challenging. She will be greatly missed by her family, nieces and nephews, and many friends especially those at Rosedale Estates where she spent her last years. A special thanks to first responders and emergency department staff at the University Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Basilica at 10044-113 St., Edmonton, AB on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Blanche’s memory to Parkinson Alberta, 11209-86 Street, Edmonton, AB T5B 3H7.
