On November 20, 2019, Barbara Christina Romanufa (nee Di Zio) of Sherwood Park passed away at the age of 78 after a short battle with cancer. Barb will be missed by her daughters Kim and Keri and her brother Steve (Helen).
She was predeceased by her husband, Nestor.
She loved to travel and loved the ocean even more. She loved to explore new places. She has seen 6 of the 7 continents. Although she survived over 50 years in Alberta, she still hated the cold so felt seeing wild penguins was better suited to Australia then Antárctica.
She volunteered at The Sherwood Park Seniors Center where she developed many enduring friendships. Although Barb was always willing to lend a hand, once she started curling and carpet bowling her competitive nature became apparent. Barbara had many hobbies including knitting, sewing and quilting. She had a close group of friends that shared this passion, she affectionately called them the “knit wits”. Barb also loved her toys. She had an iPhone before any of her daughters even had a cell phone and is on a first name basis with Alexa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on November 27, 2019, at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South (4820 Meridian Street NW).
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barb may be made to the YESS (Youth Empowerment & Support Services).
Access to Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Chapel is via 17 street and 76 avenue. Head east on 76 avenue (it turns into Meridian Street). Go all the way until the end of the road. Turn right into Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. The Funeral Home is located at the far west end of the cemetery.
