It is with great sorrow that the family of Anastasia “Nettie” Keylor announce her passing on December 9, 2021 at the age of 105 years, 8 months. Nettie passed peacefully at Providence Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
Nettie was predeceased by her husband, Laurence; son, John; daughter-in-law, Elaine Keylor (nee Dunn); five brothers and one sister. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Sister Gloria Keylor s.p.; sons, Laurence, Gary, Maurice (Alice Dalton), and daughter-in-law, Annette Keylor.
Nettie was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Mother was a true native Edmontonian. She was born in the Ritchie district (9646 – 69 Avenue) to immigrant Ukrainian parents and remained a resident of Edmonton for her entire life. After having her own family, mother enjoyed a 30 plus year career with Woodward’s Stores, first as a cashier at the downtown location then as a purchaser at the south side warehouse.
Mother remained in her own home well into her 90’s before moving into Pleasantview Place and then Providence Centre.
While father was still living, he and mother loved spending time at their hobby farm in the Keephills area of Alberta. In addition, Mother enjoyed travelling and had the opportunity to visit Eastern Canada, Hawaii, Las Vegas and Europe with both our father, family and friends. Mother and father were true to their Catholic faith which they practiced daily.
Mother was a kind, gentle and loving lady. Her cooking skills were off the charts, especially her perogies, cabbage rolls and gravy. Everyone was welcome at her table and no one ever left hungry.
