On March 24, 2013 Alf Watters received his final dispatch surrounded by love with his family at his side.
Alf was born on May 27, 1938 in Drumheller, Alberta. In 1958 he met the light of his life, Sharon and they married on February 7, 1959. Their strong and abiding love of 54 years created four daughters and six grandchildren whom he loved and protected fiercely for his entire life. Next to his family, Alf’s second love was trucking which he did with utter professionalism. He was a proud, honourable and generous man of great wit who always had a ready joke and a story for everyone he met. There wasn’t a café anywhere he couldn’t walk into without knowing someone. His heart was kind, his sense of humour legendary, and his compassion unending. The privilege of having him as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle and a friend was the greatest blessing of our lives.
Alf is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sharon–semicolon– his daughters, Laurie (Doug), Kelly Devall, Shannon (Peter) and Tracy–semicolon– six grandchildren, Caitlin, Brennan, Avery, Zack, Delaney and Chloe–semicolon– sisters, Ann and Patricia–semicolon– son-in-law Wayne Smith–semicolon– numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved son-in-law Michael Devall–semicolon– parents, Alf and Elizabeth–semicolon– brothers, Jack and Jim.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Vern Chichak for not only his exceptional care but for being a wonderful friend and to Dr. Irvin Mayers for his care, friendship and advocacy.
