Bert passed away in Edmonton on August 13, 2014 at the age of 79 years following a brief illness.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan–semicolon– children, Berni (Mike), Debbie (Mark), Sheryl (Terry), Michael and Marie–semicolon– 7 granddaughters, Liana (John), Victoria, Michelle, Jill, Robyn, Jessica and Samantha. Brothers, Jim (Joyce), Bill (Helen)–semicolon– sisters, Deedie (Jake), Margaret. Brothers-in-law, Ray (Dodie), Gerard (Marge), Dennie (Clair), Leo (Marie), Bob (Elaine), Ross (Bertha). As well as a large extended family.
Bert was predeceased by his son, Albert–semicolon– sister, Marilyn–semicolon– brother-in-law, Barry.
The family wishes to thank Jose and Anna Reyes for their friendship and keeping of Mom and Dad’s yard. Dr. Rias and the staff of the Sturgeon. Dr. McDonald and nursing unit 41 at Grey Nuns for their dedicated care.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church, 13120 – 116 Street, Edmonton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. also at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton.
Donations in memory of Bert may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Bernie, there really are no words that can take away the pain, that I know you are experiencing, but hopefully there is some small comfort in knowing that you have friends that are thinking of you!
