It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Meghan Weis on October 28, 2020 at the young age of 36 years.

Meghan will be lovingly remembered by her husband and soulmate, Brandon and their sons Lincoln and Harrison, who were her whole world. Nothing gave her greater joy than her boys, whom she loved with all her heart.

Meghan grew up in Red Deer where she touched the lives of many people, was an accomplished athlete, and began her lifelong love of education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta Faculte St. Jean in 2006 and went on to complete her Masters of Education from the University of Victoria in 2015.

Meghan was a passionate, generous, and devoted individual. She was a beautiful soul inside and out, whose infectious smile would brighten anyone’s day. Meghan was a spitfire and was never afraid to tell you the honest truth. In all things, she brought humour and empathy, making her a friend to all.

Meghan is also survived by her parents, Henri and Patti St. Pierre; siblings, Kaitlin (Kent) Froehlich, Ian (Kelsey) St. Pierre, Erin (Dan) Schwartz; niece, Veronica; nephews, Dexter and Hugo; parents-in-law, Craig and Jen Weis; sister-in-law, Kara Weis; grandmothers, Joan St. Pierre and Shirley Parker; and her beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Murray Parker and Ivan St. Pierre, and Uncle Cameron Taylor.

She will also be dearly missed by her colleagues and students in the Edmonton Catholic School community. To her students, Mme. Weis would say, be the very best you can be and most importantly, be kind.

A private Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020. A recording  of the service is available by clicking here. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to a GoFundMe for the education and activities of her two young sons. To donate, please click here.

Brandon, Kara, Craig and Jen: I am so sorry for your tragic loss. Although I didn’t know Meghan, I can tell from family photos that she was a bright light in the lives of all that knew her. Because of that, I know her children will carry that bright light within them. My niece died at the age of 35, leaving a 5 year old behind. Although it’s been a tough road for her, I’m happy to report that. at the age of 16, she’s doing well. What has helped is to be surrounded by the love and support of her extended family. I know Brandon, that your young children have that also; although it will never replace the love and support of their mom, it will go a long way towards helping your children through this tragic loss. Much love, Bobbi

My condolences to Meghan’s family and loved ones. May her soul rest in perfect peace. I pray for her family and all those who she impacted. I feel blessed to have known Meghan and I have learned so much from her more than she will ever know. She had a enormous heart, she was always willing to help others and cared for all those she met. As a teacher myself, Meghan truly was a remarkable mentor to me and she continued to support me and encourage me even. May the Lord bring us peace in this time of grief. May our broken hearts be comforted.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” ~ Psalm 34.18

May we always remember the blessings He granted us with Meghan. She was truly a blessing! She will always be remembered and she will forever be loved. God bless you all.

I’m a student of Mme Weis in 2019-2020. I remember when the pandemic started at the end of the year she went to our houses with bags with notebooks, popcorn and pencils. I have her signatures on my agendas because she would sign them every day when we would leave school. I also remember when my grandpa died she comforted me and also hugged me tightly. I miss her so much. Today is 1 year since she was gone I know I’m late, I just found this video. Rest In Peace Mme Weis 🕊
