In loving memory of Jim Allen, who passed away after a brief illness. Jim was born in Lakehurst, Ontario to Hugh and Hilda Allen. In 1942 Jim enlisted in the Canadian army and served in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. In 1944 he was captured and interned as a POW. On his return to Canada in 1946, he joined the RCMP. It was during his training in Regina that he met his future wife, Margaret (Peggy). Jim served in detachments in Yellowknife, Ottawa and various communities within “K” division (Alberta). In 1972 he retired from the force and began a new career in security with Bechtel, with whom he worked for 12 years – the last four in Abu Dhabi, Algiers and Indonesia. In his retirement, Jim enjoyed helping Dan out at the store by doing deliveries. Jim’s love of family was a keystone of his life. He is survived by his wife Peggy; his sons Dan (Donna) and William (Cathy); five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A private family service was held on February 7, 2012 followed by internment at the RCMP Cemetery in Regina. Jim touched everyone he met and left the world a better place. A kind and gentle man who made everyone around him feel special.
