Stanley Roy Harden, known to friends and family as Roy, passed away on January 6, 2012, in Edmonton, Alberta, at 96 years of age.
Born and raised on a farm near Braddock, Saskatchewan, Roy served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II and lived most of his life in Swift Current where he worked at the federal government’s agricultural research station, attended the First United Church, was a member of the Prairie Pioneer Kiwanis, Legion and F.S.N.A., and enjoyed community activities such as bowling and curling. He and his wife, Lois, moved to Edmonton in 2004 to be closer to family.
Predeceased by his wife in 2008, Roy will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Judy (Rae) Brown, Vicki (Alan Buswell) Harden, and Dawna Harden; his four grandchildren: Cameron and Alicia Brown, Steven and Amy Buswell, and their partners; his great-grandson Liam Brown; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held in Edmonton on Thursday, January 12 and interment will be in Swift Current at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
