Donald Lee Chandler lived life with love, with kindness and with unwavering commitment to his family and his ideals. He built his life with his own mind and his two strong hands. He adored, honored, loved and cherished Martha Ann Chandler for 64 years. Together they raised Carol, Wayne and Ward in a home full of good manners, good food, good education, good advice and good intentions. He gave quietly to friends and strangers alike. He led by example. He was humble in his success and proud in his heritage. He fought for his country to defend his freedom, but he despised violence and never raised a hand in anger. He said ``Yes Sir`` and ``Yes Ma`am`` and always opened the door for a lady. He kissed Martha Ann goodbye in the morning and again when he came home from work. He worked Saturdays. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Don took pleasure and satisfaction in welcoming the new additions to the family – his grandsons, Michael, Aaron, Brett and Cole, and he was overjoyed at the arrival of his great grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamen, Sophie and baby Evan. On Saturday, December 3, 2011 he left this world behind, but he will never leave us.
A Memorial Service and celebration of Don`s life will be held when the air is warm and we can gather to celebrate happy memories. We wish to thank the staff at Devonshire Care Center for their care and kindness.
