It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Rene H. Blais, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the age of 87.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 59 years Adele, his 10 children, Marcel (Jeannette), Gisele (Daniel) Schmitz, Diane (Yves) Girouard, Carmen Ouimet, Marie (Dwayne) Yurkish, Claire (Bernard) Cadrin, Aline (Yvan) Beaudoin, Paul (Shawna), Pierre (Trish), Daniel (Lyndsay); and their 45 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his loss, 2 brothers, Denis (Bibianne); Gilles; two sisters Yvette Brule and Sr. Aline and brothers-in-law, Albert Blais, Alfred (Mary) Mathieu and sister-in-law Angela Mathieu.
Rene was predeceased by his parents Leontine and Jean-Baptiste Blais and his siblings, Lionel Blais, Nativa Blais and Rosa Gauthier. He will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, November 27th, 2011 at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas D’Aquin Church, 8410-89 Street, Edmonton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Rene on Monday, November 28th, 2011 at 11:00 am at St Thomas D’Aquin Church with Father Raymond Sevigny. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Marc Messier Trail.
Memorial donations in memory of Rene may be made to “Roots of Change Foundation” for Father Denis Hebert’s missionary work. The Foundation is a NGO that supports a grassroots movement focused on improving the quality of life for the Nicaraguan people. The Foundations’ objectives are based on the teachings of John Paul VI in his Encyclical \'The Development of Peoples\'. www.rootsofchange.ca
