He leaves behind his mother Marilyn Meaney and step father Earl Manning; brothers Duane (Corlaine), Darron (Denise), Dion, Michael (Jennifer), and sister Renee (Todd). He was a special uncle to Keegan, Kiernan, and Kirsten Legge; Michael Durkin, Emily Quirke, and Rebecca , Michael and Samantha Dutchak. Derrick will be sadly missed by many relatives in Newfoundland, the United States, and across the ocean. He was predeceased by his wife Aigul Legge, father John Legge and sister Rhonda Quirke.
The testament to a life well lived is the effect that life has had on friends and family left behind. Derrick had touched the lives of so many in Alberta, Newfoundland, and across the ocean in Kazakhstan.
