Dennis George Wilson Rees, loving husband to Stella and devoted father to Norma Wolowyk and Joanne Milson (Rob), died at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans in Edmonton on 1st November, age 89 years.
Dennis was a loving Grandad to Michael Wolowyk (Sheryl), Christine Burwash, Norman Milson (Jolene), Keltie van Engelen (Bob) and GG to Tayler and Olivia Burwash, Michael and Katie Wolowyk, Elliot and Stuart Milson, and Hendrik and Joanna van Engelen. He is also survived by his sister Gwen Hobson and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents Blanche and David Rees, sisters Blanche Gourlay and Vera Burrows, and son-in-law Mike Wolowyk.
Dennis was born in Brynmawr Wales and came to Edmonton in 1925. He served in Scotland with the Canadian Forestry Corps during WWII where he met the love of his life, Stella Fisher. After his return from overseas, he was employed by the Alberta Government until his retirement in 1979. Dennis was an avid reader of military and railway history, and a talented woodworker. He and Stella travelled extensively in their retirement years, many times to their beloved England and Scotland.
To the care-givers of Columbia House, Kipnes Centre for Veterans, the family offers their most sincere appreciation and thanks. Your resourcefulness and thoughtful care in administering to Dad\'s pain and suffering over six years will always be remembered. Yours is not an easy task but you do it well.
