Obituary

On September 24, 2011, Georgia passed away at the age of 86 years. She is forever remembered by her husband Leonard; three sons, Paul, Raymond and Gary (June) as well as six grandchildren. Georgia was the last surviving member of Dorothea and Percy Spence’s 13 children. Georgia was born and raised in Athabasca and graduated from the Edmonton General Hospital Nursing Program in 1949 where she then dedicated her life to the care and welfare of others. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life and interment will take place in the family plot at Athabasca Cemetery. Georgia once wrote “My farm life in Athabasca holds only fond memories for me. Like all places of birth, we look back in order to look forward, and the looking back is good. I may have left Athabasca, but it never left me”. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the care she received at the Citadel Care Centre in St. Albert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice
