Ferguson, William James “Jim”
1948 – 2011
On August 27, 2011, Jim passed away at the age of 63 after living optimistically with multiple myeloma for 6 years.
Born in Oshawa, Ontario on July 23, 1948, Jim eventually settled in Edmonton with his family when he was in elementary school. He eventually became a teacher himself, working at elementary, junior, and senior high schools in St. Albert and Whitecourt for 35 years. He taught a wide range of subjects, from Math and Chemistry to Outdoor Education and Work Experience with creativity and dedication. He approached both teaching and learning with passion, and after his retirement he continued to pursue his love of knowledge by focusing on geology. His love of fish encompassed both the breeding of tropical aquarium fish and the catching (and releasing!) of grayling and trout in Albertan lakes and streams. He deeply appreciated these landscapes and passed on this love to his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Darlene, his daughters Jenanne and Caitlin (Steven), his mother Frances, his sister Leslie (Jack), as well as numerous inlaws, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, dear friends, and his beloved dog Snoopy. Predeceased by his father William.
